Episode 19: San Diego Charger Podcast: How To Calculate an NFL QB Passer Rating

This is an interactive Podcast that teaches you how to calculate an NFL Quarter Back Passer Rating.

In a podcast experiment, Dan combines the magic of a podcast and the power of Mathematica, to bring you an interactive educational experience.

Dan’s fiancée, Abby Brown, created and published an NFL QB Passer Rating demonstration on the Wolfram Institute Demonstrations’ site (The Creators of Mathematica).

If you choose to do so, this demonstration can be used by you the listener while listening to the podcast, so that you have a better understanding of how the quarterback passer rating is calculated.

You can also choose not to use the demonstration and learn by just listening.

After the lesson, Dan explains why he believes this is not an accurate or effective way to rate a quarterbacks performance.

<itunes:summary>This is an interactive Podcast that teaches you how to calculate an NFL Quarter Back Passer Rating.

Dan not only looks at last nights impressive victory for the San Diego Chargers over the Oakland Raiders, he looks at the stats in total over this 11 game win streak over the Raiders. In doing so, he finds something reveling, which really leads to The Case for LT.

Although dim, with the win the Chargers playoff hopes still flicker. With that in mind, Dan takes a detailed look at what would have to happen for the Chargers to still win the AFC West this year

Episode 16:San Diego Charger's Podcast: Loss to the Colts 23 to 20

Because it’s Thanksgiving, Dan tries to find something positive in Sunday’s loss to the Colts, which he does in the play of Jacob Hester. However, the reality is the Chargers loss yet another close game and some of the blame in that loss can be attributed to Norv Turner’s poor clock management in the 4th quarter. That being the case, Dan’s spends a great deal of time berating Norv’s skills at play clock management.

Despite the Charger’s loss to the Colts, with Denver’s loss to Oakland, Dan is still die hard in his belief the Chargers can make the playoffs. That being the case, he lays out what he believes is a realistic scenario for the Chargers to win the AFC west championship this year.

The focal point of this show is the many different ways that we the fans, through the San Diego Chargers have to give back to our community in this upcoming Thanks Giving Day week. These opportunities include the annual Chargers’ food & blood drives.

New this year is Antonio Cromartie’s raffle through the Pro Player Foundation. This raffle supports at risk Children of Camp Hope, which was destroyed by last years Witch Fires. In addition this raffle also supports families affected by the many San Diego wild fires that have plagued us in recent years. To talk about the raffle, you will hear an interview from one of Cromartie’s marketing managers, Kristen Kuliga of, K Sports and Entertainment.

In the spirit of Thanks Giving, on a serious note, Dan also gives thanks for some of the many things that he is personally thankful for, as well as, in a light hearted look, what we the Charger fans should be thankful for despite our 4 and 6 record.

Note: Kristen Kuliga was the first female agent to negotiate a NFL QB’s contract when she negotiated Doug Flutie’s original 33 million dollar contract with the San Diego Chargers.
